Barrel confusion

Post by The Whasian on Sat Jun 25, 2011 1:32 am

Ok, on my Echo 1(CYMA) m14, the stock barrel is a 570mm long, 6.08mm wide(I've heard it's a tbb but I don't know. Some clarification on that would be appreciated). I later installed a JBU 500mm long 6.03mm wide barrel. I run the stock hop-up unit and nub with a KWA 2gx bucking. Just recently, I tried my old barrel in the gun again, and once the hop-up was adjusted, it seemed to shoot further and truer than my JBU tbb(these weren't actual tests, just pure observation). Is there any explanation for this: the stock barrel being a tbb, the extra length factoring in? Or am I just thinking things and should go back to the JBU? Any input would be awesome.

Well most accuracy comes from the quality of the inner barrel. I have heard that some cheap tb barrels, like JBU, can actually make accuracy worse because if the sub par inner barrel quality. Just a thought.

For one, CYMA M14 barrels are 6.04mm tightbores. They aren't the best tightbores, but tightbores nonetheless. A JBU probably offers little better, they aren't the best tightbores either. Although much of the difference could probably lies in the hop-up. Those KWA buckings are very finicky about nub placement.

Not only that, but they seem not to like cold weather. Based on KWA owners at my place complaining about their (comparably) poor range on cold days.
